Programming
Just like the coding that’s built into a computer program or the coding that goes into the back-end of a website so that it can operate as you want it to, we, as humans, are programmed as well. Other people, our parents, society, painful experiences, habits, patterns, repetitive information, and thoughts — program us. Memories of the past work in our brains similar to way computer coding affects the computer’s brain and its outcomes and actions. Misinterpretations get programmed into our brains in the same way that facts get programmed.
Most people don’t realize that they have these programs, this code, running through every decision they make, every perception, every feeling, every emotion. Every time fear stops them from making the next sales call, it’s a program. Every time they fear failure, it’s a program. Every time they believe they are not worthy, it’s a program. Every time they believe that someone else is more worthy than them, it’s a program. Every time they feel like they need to play small in relationships, business, or life — it’s a program. Every time they feel like they’ll never accomplish their dreams, or they’ll never be rich, or they’ll never succeed, it’s a program. Every time they resent their colleague for their success, it’s a program. Every time they resent their circumstances in life, it’s a program.
Programs run on repeat throughout our lives (and often from generation to generation). These programs run so frequently and are so widely accepted as “normal” by society (out of pattern and conditioning), most people don’t even realize they’re operating based on programming and therefore they don’t know that they have the power to change it — all of it.
But, the good news is that just like we can change a computer’s programming by changing its code — a human being can also change their programming by changing their code as well. And as we change our coding, the ecosystem of our personal culture, workplace culture, and dynamic family-culture changes.
At Culture Consulting Solutions, when we work with an organization’s employees, one of our goals is to give the employees the knowledge, wisdom, tools, and strategies that can help them understand their unique programming and the “codes” that they operate on and to decide consciously if they like their programming or if they are ready to change it. If they are ready to change their programming, we give them the tools and strategies required to do it.
An employee who has been de-programmed of limiting beliefs, fixed mindsets, and victim mentalities is an employee who will cause the effect they want to see in their own productivity, the productivity of their team, and the production and profitability of their company. They also create happy and healthy families, which helps to create happier and healthier workplaces, happier and healthier communities, and thus a happier and healthier world.
Understanding our programming and how to change it is a fundamental necessity of any effective personal growth strategy. Personal growth demands it; or said another way, a person cannot grow without it.
